The Government Will Completely Ban Gasoline Exports From April 1: Reasons and Consequences

The government will impose a ban on the export of gasoline from Russia for its producers starting April 1, 2026. This information was reported by two sources from Vedomosti, who are familiar with the outcomes of the meeting held on March 27 with Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, and was later confirmed by the government press service. One of the sources clarified that the ban will remain in effect until July 31, 2026.
The statement from the government highlighted that after the meeting, Novak instructed the Ministry of Energy to prepare a draft resolution regarding the ban on gasoline exports starting April 1, 2026, aimed at stabilizing prices and ensuring priority supply for the domestic market. Furthermore, oil companies confirmed during the meeting that they possess sufficient reserves of gasoline and diesel fuel, as well as a high utilization rate of refinery capacities to meet domestic demand, as stated in the announcement.
